Back Pack

As a former Girl Guide, I love this Scout back pack. Wouldn't it be perfect for day hikes? I'd love to fill one up with a thermos of pink lemonade and container of trail mix. Image via Duluth Pack.

Clock

Upon his return from Ottawa, Greg presented me with the most beautiful, colourful clock - an Ultra Thin Wall Clock by Thomas Buchheim (which is speculated to be the world's thinnest clock). I'm excited to hang it in our home. I love the colours. Thank you, Gregory. Image via Apartment Therapy.

P.S. Today is our four month wedding anniversary. Happy Anniversary, Gregory!

Lamp

I'm crushing on this green desk lamp (and this baby blue electric fan and this yellow alarm clock). For purchase from Fishbone Deco.

Cognac

I love cognac purses. This purse (above) is so worthy of a splurge, though this (much) more affordable alternative is a nice second place finish. What a great way to complete dark denim and a black turtleneck!

Brooches

These wooden brooches offer inspiration for the style and design elements of our wedding. Love! To check out the full collection, visit mhl.

Scarves

Last year, I discovered the joy of the silk scarf for work. Now a black and grey horizontal striped (surprise!) scarf has regular rotation in my work wardrobe. With an equally healthy dose of various black sweaters in that same wardrobe, I've been curious to add more colourful silk scarves. It is this pursuit that leads me to share a great resource for finding such scarves - Posh Vintage. Above are some of my favourites right now.

Mrs.

I am going to be a Mrs. soon, and I have the hanger to prove it! With the soon emergence of me as Mrs. Clarke *gasp*, Mrs. Lilien caught my eye. This great blog explores the life of Mrs. Lilien - a woman of many hats. She's a flamboyant soul who is witty, fearless, and extravagant. She's the older-bolder-brighter-wiser version of the coolest person you know. The blog's inspiration boards explore her various facets. I dream of being Mrs. Uptown! and chuckle at the thought that in each of her reincarnations, Mrs. Lilien can be found in 4 inch heels.

What type of Mrs. are you?

Paper

I've spent a very large portion of my last paycheque on paper: purple paper to be more exact. Although paper is the traditional gift for a first anniversary, it is making a major appearance in our wedding design scheme. This means whenever I see a great DIY idea that's paper intensive, my inner planner says 'me too'.

Though not made of paper, I'm loving emersonmade's creations. The flowers remind me of paper, and no doubt that's why I'm immediately drawn to them.

I'm loving these coursages as an accent to a basic pencil skirt and v-neck sweater, and I adore them for men. Who says men can't make boutonnieres a routine part of their work wardrobe? (Speaking of which, I am excited that one of my stocking stuffer presents for Greg, a striped and polka dot pocket square has made it into rotation). All images via emersonmade.

Sartorialist

I dream that one day I will look as fashionable as these ladies. I have discerned that achieving such requires more fancy high heels (apparently my every-day matte black and patent pumps don't make the cut), a long coat (to go with that short skirt, a la Cake), designer sunglasses and pouty red lips. I already have the requisite heavy bangs and long straight hair (pheuf!). All snaps via The Sartorialist.

Headband

A birdcage veil and/or floral headpiece for our wedding: yay or nay? The current feel we're scoping is uptown glamourous. We're set to be married in a grand Cathedral with drinks, dinner and dancing to follow at a swanky lounge and restaurant in our city's downtown core, so the plan for glamour seems only fitting. I'd long ago dismissed a traditional veil but would like a little softness and fluff in my hair for good measure. The snaps above are my current considerations.

Hairpieces all available through Etsy at LoBoheme, Satanica, Myrakim and Sweet Pea and Fawn.

Perfume

Though many places are scent-free these days, I have long wished to start a perfume collection (perhaps my love hollers back to travels to a perfume factory in Paris when I was thirteen). While there, we were given the opportunity to mix our own fragrance; it is an experience I reflect upon fondly even though I hadn't yet acquired a taste for poultry cooked in white wine.

This evening over dinner our waitress exclaimed with joy over the scent of my mother's perfume (Hypnotic Poison by Christian Dior). This occurrence only confirmed my desire to start a perfume collection. The first scent I ever owned was Ralph by Ralph Lauren. Right now, I'm debating whether Chanel No. 5 or YSL Parisienne is the most fitting first purchase.

Speaking of Paris, this bargain navy striped dress is on my lust list and this song, though far from French, offers the passion I associate with the romantic capital.

Heels

This week my wedding dress came home with me (correction: was delivered to my grandma's closet for safe-keeping). Yes, that's right, I didn't have to wait four months for an order to arrive as the dress was on the rack and had never been tried on by anyone else before. My dress arrived in the shop earlier that day and was the perfect size and colour. I quite lucked out!

All that remains now is to find a pair of shoes so that the hemming can begin. I'm currently crushing on these selections from J Crew.

Etiquette

Yesterday, Greg surprised me with two presents - a turquoise chunky necklace and a hilariously delightful etiquette book from 1948. I've been smacking my lips over its advice and cannot wait to share some of these tid-bits with you. We also came across (and purchased) a fantastic sea foam green mid-century table lamp (photo forthcoming).

Saturday October 17, you were a day full of fun vintage finds. Speaking of which, I'm loving this vintage online shop. This dress is the perfect ensemble for snapping romantic photos like this. Image via Spys Grandson.

Fascinators

I'm feeling inclined to put my clothing shopping whims on hold for a while. In lieu I am feeling inspired to use new accessories to breath life in to my current ensembles. I'm adoring these headbands from Ban Do. They'd be perfect for dressing up a basic black turtleneck and black pencil skirt. They also remind me of played-down versions of the delightful fascinators young Royals wear weekly in the glossy pages of Hello.
