Hairspirations

I'm getting my bangs cut next Thursday (whoo for excitement in the mundane), but have no other changes to my hairstyle planned in the short term. I haven't coloured my hair in almost 4 years (which still sounds odd because before then I'd been colouring it every few months (or less) since I was 13!) and I've been wearing it long with bangs (of some sort) for as long as I can remember. However, I'm loving Wit + Delight's Hairspirations for 2012. I second every single one.

Braids

With a baby in tow, it's often challenging to keep my tresses tangle free (hello little grasping hands!). I love ponytails (particularly smooth ones with lots of mascara and flushed cheeks), but feel like I need more options in my hair style arsenal. Enter braids. I wore plaits as a teen, but now that I'm more mature, these options from Refinery 29 hit the spot! I particularly love the fishtail bun (above). How will you be wearing your hair this holiday season? xoxo

P.S. Joanna also has a great round up of hairstyles profiled this week!

Bob

I'm thinking of slightly tweaking my 'do into a blunt bob with straight bangs. Love. Hair inspiration via Et pourquoi pas Coline.

Hair

With a little guy who loves to tug on his mommy's tresses (I think my next etsy purchase is going to be one of these), I'm feeling inspired by these styles via Month of Hair Calendar via Refinery 29. These styles are perfect for when we're dancing around his nursery in late morning (the perfect cure to soothe a fussy newborn). I've played all sorts of music for dancing, but Thomas is particularly smitten with And if Venice is Sinking (which I played after hearing on an episode of Being Erica a few evenings ago) even though Greg's rooting for the boy to like Stereolab.

Pony Tail

After a summer of wearing my hair long and wavy, I've been wearing pony tails a lot lately (there's something about fall that encourages them, for me). Image via Design Love Fest.

Bangs

I don't think I'll ever stop wearing my hair without some sort of bangs. I am addicted. The only problem (aside from creeping fear that I'll be one of those woman who styles her hair in a way that is painfully indicative of her youth)? I don't wear glasses.

I've long been told that my bangs look like they belong on someone with dark rim glasses, but I don't require corrective lenses so apparently it is as if there is something missing. Last summer, Greg and I had tonnes of fun selecting new glasses for him, and I tried on so many pairs too, for fun, of course. I've even (embarrassingly) considered purchasing frames and wearing them with clear glass to get this look. This lady is gushingly beautiful. Image via The Senses Five.

Hair

I'm standing in a wedding this Saturday for my cousin Doug and my dear friend Lesley. In preparation for their day, and to complement my teal boat neck dress (it is so fab!), I'm thinking of an Audrey Hepburn worthy up-do. I'm also getting make up inspiration from this YouTube video! Dressing

The shots of this dressing room from this backyard wedding make me excited to spend time getting ready with my ladies on the morning of our wedding. We've got plans for a pancake brunch, inspired by this soiree, a salon appointment (I'm dreaming of a hairstyle along the lines of this bride... though for other wedding events I'm aiming to be able to style my own hair more along these lines) and then hopefully (I am on a quest to find a makeup artist at this point) a beauty consultation that sees me departing for the church with lush lashes like these (one can hope, no?). Movies

This photo, noticed via Le Love, (a) reminds me that I still need to catch (500) Days of Summer (Zooey Deschanel has a great voice and bangs - in fact I'd love to wear my hair like hers for our wedding) and (b) reaffirms my love of the full fringe.

Speaking of movies, Greg and I caught Up In the Air on Christmas Day (a tradition of his that I've tagged along in adopting). It was amazing; the end in particular was amazing. Next up on my viewing hit list is The Young Victoria, which I hope to catch with my grandma soon.

Headband

A birdcage veil and/or floral headpiece for our wedding: yay or nay? The current feel we're scoping is uptown glamourous. We're set to be married in a grand Cathedral with drinks, dinner and dancing to follow at a swanky lounge and restaurant in our city's downtown core, so the plan for glamour seems only fitting. I'd long ago dismissed a traditional veil but would like a little softness and fluff in my hair for good measure. The snaps above are my current considerations.

Hairpieces all available through Etsy at LoBoheme, Satanica, Myrakim and Sweet Pea and Fawn.

Braids

I just saw this post on A Cup of Jo and immediately fell in love with the idea of Braid Wednesday. How fun is it to have a routine of braiding your hair mid-week? Check out the Flickr group here. Image via She Speaks Oceans.

Also, I am quite excited to discover that the other Katie has children's patterns in the works that she hopes to put up for sale this fall (not that I have children, but I love her patterns!).

Bangs

Maybe I don't need my bangs trimmed afterall... even though they're hanging over my eyes. This girl makes messy, overgrown bangs look great.

Hair

I am loving this Aldo model's haircut. I'll be giving my hair straightener a Saturday off today. Loose waves are in order for a casual day of cooking good food and browsing the Farmer's Market.
